About this workshop

Self-driving cars are no longer science fiction. Waymo's fully autonomous, electric vehicles are already on the road — and they're changing the way people move around the city.

But what is it like to ride in one? How do you request a car, where does it drop you off, and is it safe?

Waymo Test-Drive Workshop is a friendly, hands-on session designed especially for seniors who want to experience autonomous vehicles up close and learn to use the Waymo app with confidence.

This isn't just a presentation. You'll see the vehicles in person, try the Waymo app yourself, and take a guided look at how the technology works — all in a relaxed, supportive setting.

During the workshop, you'll learn:

What you'll do

Activity 1 — Meet the Vehicle

Get an up-close look at a Waymo vehicle and learn about the sensors, cameras and software that let it drive itself safely.

Activity 2 — Try the Waymo App

Install and explore the Waymo app step by step: creating an account, requesting a ride, choosing a destination, and understanding pickup and drop-off.

Activity 3 — Take a Test Ride

Where available, take a short guided ride to experience how the vehicle stops, turns and navigates on its own — and leave feeling confident and in control.

• Your smartphone or tablet if you have one
• Comfortable shoes and an open mind

You don't need to be confident with technology to attend. Everything will be explained in plain English, at a comfortable pace.
